Today, I joined forces with members of the Tri-Town Church Coalition to serve a free meal. Folks from different churches came together to love on the town. It was an understanding that we are blessed as individuals and as a group, so we are to give back. As the hands and feet of Christ, we often forget that our blessings come from God, they are not based on our works. We are to use these blessings to help others in our town and around the world.
As a body, it becomes easy for us to be able to stay segregated because of our denominational barriers. Being grateful to have folks that will come to my side and aid in serving others is a way to honor God for how we are blessed. It isn't’t about doing it for recognition (so please don't’t read this in that way), it is about how much love came from a group of people to others. Each person that helped serve a neighbor today wanted nothing more than to see smiles on their faces. We expect nothing in return. We do it because of the unconditional love God gives us each day, in the ways we succeed and even in our failures, with no strings attached.
If you have the chance to serve someone else, to open a door, to offer a greeting, to make someone smile; remember what it feels like when it comes to you. Do it without expecting anything in return. Serve because we are served every day. Love because we are always loved. Share because you get blessings from God without doing anything to earn it.
