Dirty Dishes in the Sink

This may be a weird one. Why would one be willing to be thankful for dirty dishes in the sink? I know having a sink full of dirty dishes stressed me out. The dishes symbolize much more than we realize. It is a reminder of the daily blessings we have.

Many out there deal with financial struggles at some point. Maybe there was a time when one couldn't be sure when they would be able to afford their next meal. Maybe there was a time when the foods that could be eaten were not the "best," but at least satisfied hunger. Seeing a dirty dish in the sink reminds us to be grateful for the smallest thing. Even if you are eating minimally because your funds are tight, or you can have a gourmet meal, the dirty dish serves as a reminder that you have the comfort of food in your system.

This time of year, if you have the means to help someone in need, find a way to reach out and see if you can help. Thanksgiving is less than a week away. Perhaps you can invite someone over for a meal. Maybe you can help by providing a piece of a meal for a neighbor. Perhaps you can donate to a local food pantry. When the Israelites wandered in the desert, God provided manna. Pass along that blessing to others!
