The Ability To Stay Connected
I use some social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. I also have zoom and other forms of communication! I think we should be grateful to live in a time where staying connected to friends and family is much easier. In today’s world, we have the ability to video chat or send photos more quickly. I enjoy mornings where I take a moment to greet several friends who do not live near me, let alone the same time zone. Using Snapchat to send messages and photos makes friends feel not so far away.
Because technology is such a normal part of daily existence, we take for granted the ways it keeps us connected. When was the last time we looked back to when technology wasn't’t what we have today? I can remember when long distance phone calls were only allowed after certain times because of the cost. I can remember when emails were accessed through dial-up and you could only be on the internet if mom and dad weren't expecting a call. I remember when writing letters to friends after moving was almost the only real way to stay connected. I can remember when chatting online only came through instant messenger, no video calls.
Generations going back had even less technology.. Cyber bullying and other negative aspects have taken over the blessing of what technology offers. Instead of taking technology for granted and abusing the ways that we can stay together, we should be using it to be loving and encouraging to all people, even ones we do not agree with!
Hebrews 13:16 “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
